I can just type nonsense about my new coffee table. It is standing in my living room as a constant reminder to let go my rational mind as a listen to Spirit. I had just returned from a day of thrift-store shopping, looking for a coffee table among other things. I got myself quiet, sat still for 15 minutes, then read a bit in a book by Florence Scovell Shinn about the power of mind. She said when listening to Intuition, give up rationality. Just follow the soft leads as they come. I laughed, got up, got my car keys and went to my neighborhood thrift store called “Ditto.”
There I saw this old tool box, dark wood as I wanted, for $28. Of course I bought it and love it. I like using it as a cradle for books. Its top slots hold wine glasses perfectly.
I think the main lesson it teaches me is that Spirit is on my side. My own sweet will is Heaven’s will…..Here is a quote from William Butler Yeats, Irish poet who died (I think) in 1939, the year I was born. He says,
“Considering this, all hatred driven hence,
the mind recovers radical innocence
and learns at last that is is self-delighting,
Self-appeasing, self-affrighting,
And that it’s own sweet will is Heaven’s will.”
